Teaching Philosophy
Holding an upright string instrument for a prolonged period of time is extremely unnatural to play—it requires stamina, concentration and coordination, but most of all—relaxation!
My philosophy for playing the violin and viola revolves around discovering ways to relax in practice and performance. Through relaxation I engage my students to find their voice and create an emotional connection to their instrument.
My goal is to create a rewarding and valuable experience that provides opportunities for my students to collaborate, gig, have fun, compete, and make like-minded music relationships. I enjoy teaching both technically and creatively and adjust my angle for each student, crafting whimsical stories to describe moments in music, encouraging physical movement for expression, and physically playing live to my students during their lessons.
